MITCHELSTOWN TUESDAY TASTER WALK

The latest guided taster walk as part of our HEALTHY TOWN initaive will go from John Mandeville statue on Tuesday next at 7pm for all ages. Why not give it a go.
September is Cork walking month. A Walk course work shop takes place on Wed Sept 19th 7.30-8.30pm at St. Fanahans College. The focus of these 1 hour workshops will give you a taste of how to improve your physical fitness (aerobic fitness, flexibility, muscle strength and fat loss) through walking. This course is suitable for students who wish to develop a range of skills required for working in the music industry, or for those who wihs to progress to further education.

ENTRY REQUIRMENTS

Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent. Mature students are welcome to apply. An interest in music and ability to perform in recommended.

FETAC CERTIFICATION:

On successful completion of this course, students will gain FETAC level 5 certificationl

MAIN AREAS OF STUDY:

The performing Arts Music Course aims to provide students with training, information and advice on various aspects for the music industry.  Special emphasis is placed on live performance,studio recording, songwriting techniques, promotion and music law.  Students are given the opportunity to record their own demo and will organise and participate in live music events.

RECORDING FACILITIES:

Modern digital audion work station for recording, mixing and editing with a range of microphones, equalizers and speakers using modern computer recording software.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Students complete an 80 hour work placement in their vocational area e.g. recording studios, theatre companies, local and visiting bands, live venues and P.A. companies.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

Sound Engineering, Live Performance, Event Management and Promtion.

FURTHER STUDIES:

FETAC awards offer links to third level courses.  Succesful students who achieve 5 distinction are eligible to apply.  This year we will be offering A.B.R.S.M grade theory exams and Trinity school performance exams.  This will allow our students to double up on available certification.

Beyond You Level 1 Course will be commencing on Wednesday 12th September 10am-12 for 10 Wednesday mornings The benefits of this programme include a safe and trusting environment to challenge participants limiting beliefs and to allow them to progress positively as individuals. In a much supported manner, they will be able to explore the benefits of self empowerment and success and understand how to create helpful habits that will allow them to go beyond their comfort zones. If you have a sense that you want to move forward and want to explore the reasons that you are staying where you are at, then this programme will allow you to see more clearly the areas in which your life could improve. It is the little changes that you make that will lead to a big difference in your life. Geraldine Lyons, a qualified Life Coach and NLP Practitioner, is delighted to be returning to Mitchelstown to facilitate this energising and uplifting programme in conjunction with Ballyhoura Development Ltd

Coffee Morning Thursday 13th September 10am

Welcome to Stag Park Community Coffee Morning 10am-11.30am. We would like to invite the new residents on the estate to a coffee morning in the community house, 10 Market Place to meet the residents, see the community house and learn what is on offer.

New Foroige Club: 7th September at 7pm

This night residents will be able to register their children for the Foroige club that will be held on Friday nights at 7pm for children aged 10-12years old in the community house. There is a €15 registration fee for the year, only registered children can attend. If anyone would be interested in volunteering to help out with this club please call in on this night also.

Halloween Camp

We will be beginning our Halloween camp on Saturday September 1st in the community house. Times and age groups are as follows:

5-7 year olds every Saturdays from 12pm to 2pm

8-14year olds every Saturdays from 2:30pm to 4:30pm

These classes will be held every Saturday and ending on Wednesday 31st October with a Halloween party 5pm-7pm €10 per child, €15 for two children from the same family, €20 for three children. The camp will include arts and crafts, costume making, games, cooking and lots more.
